Shares of Paytm and One MobiKwik Systems rose over 2 percent in early trade on October 9, while Pine Labs remained in the red, as the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is set to decide on whether to defer the implementation of merchant discount rate (MDR) charges on UPI transactions.
At 9:36 am, Paytm shares rose 2.10 percent to Rs 1,676, while MobiKwik gained 2.40 percent to Rs 250.40. Pine Labs was down 1.32 percent at Rs 167.55 as of 9:28 am.
The UPI Steering Committee is scheduled to meet in the first half of the day to decide on the deferment, with an announcement likely around 1-2 pm, Moneycontrol has learnt.
Moneycontrol reported on October 8 that NPCI was considering proposals to postpone the implementation of UPI MDR charges to January 2027.
NPCI operates the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), India's dominant digital payments platform.
