President Donald Trump acquired at least seven-figure stakes in Meta Platforms Inc., McDonald’s Corp. and Microsoft Corp. and at least $1 million in SpaceX debt in August, continuing his unprecedented trading activity while in office.
Trump or his financial managers have made thousands of transactions each quarter totaling tens of millions of dollars and involving major companies that have dealings with his administration. His latest disclosure, published Thursday by the US Office of Government Ethics, lists 517 transactions completed in August.
The largest was a purchase of Meta stock worth at least $5 million and as much as $25 million, according to the 18-page disclosure. Officials report the value of their transactions within broad ranges. Trump also traded shares of chipmakers Nvidia Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc., both key players in the AI race. Trump’s administration is a booster of the AI sector, which has figured prominently in midterm election campaigns as candidates spar over data centers and safety policies.
Other equities in which Trump acquired shares worth at least $1 million include Comcast Corp., Netflix Inc., Abbott Labs, Conoco Philips and Chevron Corp.
The disclosure shows purchases and sales of municipal bonds along with the tranche of Space Exploration Technologies Corp. debt bought on Aug. 18. Those notes don’t mature until July 2031. Trump also bought shares in Musk’s Tesla worth at least $51,000.
